Consider Desire
Consider what it means to desire anything. What starts as a simple realization can easily turn into an unspeakable longing. A person has two options: work towards what their heart desires, or resign themselves to never having what they want. Both options can lead to regret, but one ensures bitterness.
Of course, there is a third option: there's always a third option. A person can drive themselves mad with longing. If they continue to pine after that which they desire, but do nothing to pursue it, they will quickly spiral into a sea of despair and mental anguish.
And that is why action, however reckless, is the better alternative to idleness. There is movement or there is regression. Evolution or entropy. There is no standing still, not for a creature as powerful and volatile as the human.
For ultimately, desire is progress.
