The Odd Duck

Another entry, piggybacking heavily upon the shoulders of the last post. The purpose of this blog was to help me navigate the writing of my novel. I have very much enjoyed using this medium to piece my process and thoughts together, but like my process, it may be time to change how I interact with it. At the start, I needed help reasoning through stylistic choices and narrative presentation. Thinking "out loud" in blog format helped me tremendously, but now that most of that has been established, where do I go from here? I already know the answer, but I'm hesitant to acknowledge it, because I've grown very fond of these pieces and how they're laid out. But all things must change at some point, and that which is static is actually in regress. Things are going to get a little weird. Obscure. And I daresay... spiritual? That is because the kind of self help I need no longer lies in the realm of logic, but in the realm of emotion. It's easy to apply algorithms and patterns to a writing style, but nearly impossible to apply them to an essence. Sure, we can find ratios for an essence and analyze why it might feel a certain way, but that still doesn't logicize the essence itself. Like humans in general, and the human experience, not everything can be neatly categorized and labeled, much as we like to try. Or in this case, the emotional cannot always be translated to the logical, no matter how well we understand the chemical. And thus, if things get a little strange, so be it. Never was the world worse off for an odd duck who turned their oddity to commodity.
